The name Uba, stems from Uva, the Portuguese word for Grape, and has been spelled phonetically to mimic the local accent. Uba is a tribute to the family, the welcoming spirit of Porto and the wine that José Maria de Castro enjoyed sampling.
The Uba house, built in 1864 by Luisa's great-great-grandfather José Maria de Castro, is located in an area where, 150 years ago, grapes were grown to produce wine.
The guest house underwent rehabilitation works in 2021. The priority was the preservation of the building and its charming features, whilst adding elements of comfort.
This charming guesthouse is located in the center of Porto and offers 3 suites with private bathroom and kitchenette, decorated with unique pieces from the family estate. The suites are located on the 1st and 2nd floor without elevator.
Each suite pays homage to a Portuguese wine variety.
Uba is the permanent home of Luísa and Granny Lai who will make you feel at home.
We wish you a pleasant stay!
